Shopping and Fun

It was a new day on Saturday, and Gram seemed to be able to do more walking. She suggested that we do some shopping in Provo. It was a hot day, she decided that it would be a good idea to go out to the mall that was out doors. The first stop was the funnest of them all, we went into Bath & Body Works. We were spraying different fregrances on, and trying the test lotions. I think by the time we left I had at least 10 different smells on me. We had a blast in the store, Gram even bought some lotion and the lip gloss that she/ I was looking for.

Explaintion: Gram noticed that in all the Graduation pictures out lips were nice and shiney. She wanted her lips to look shiney. I wasn't sure what I used, and I didn't know where it came from, but one of them I had with me was helpful. And we discovered that Bath and Body works is where the lip gloss came from.

We then headed on ward, put the lotion in the car and kept walking, until we got to borders, Gram and Gramp are great readers, and LOVE books. So we had to go in there. Gram found a few books and let me look around for a while she read some of the books. She told me that she once bought a book, read the first page, and then threw it out, she did not like the words the author used. "No thanks!" So I am glad she read some, because one of the books she did put back. The last time Gram had gone to borders was a week or so before I got there, she bought 8 books for Gramp to read. They are fast readers!

It was close to lunch time and so we decided to look around for some food. I was not in the mood for chinese food, but we did find a mexican place. Gram was happy with that. Even though we had Mexican food for dinner we were both happy with it for lunch. We weren't tired of it yet! I think this was a lime chicken salad, with a bottom tortilla (only for me), sour cream, guacamole, corn strips, and some sause or dressing for it, and some lemonade to drink. Silly Gram, when we got the drinks she gave us water. I took a drink and noticed that it did not taste like lemonade but it did have a lemon flavor. It wasn't until Gram took a drink that she realized that it was water (and nothing else). I think we figured that she accidentally pressed the wrong button.

While we were searching for a place to eat, we passed the Chocolate Factory. I think Gram knew what I was thinking because she said "Not before eating a real Lunch". I was fine going in there and buyng a little something to eat, but she said No. I think that was a good thing, or I would have bought too much chocolate. I can't help that I like it so much....Mmmmm Chocolate!


Poor Ceaser, when we got home, he didn't look well. Gram decided to give him some of the medicine that she had for him, we hope that he gets better. Ceaser was looking a little sad, and he didn't have as much energy, and when we opend the door outside he didn't want to go out. And he always ran for the door when anyone was coming in or out of the house.

 When I go back and think, I may not have taken a picture of the dinners I made.  Nope no picture of the Cajun fried rice or the Cajun chicken pasta .  I even tried to remind myself to take a picture of it as my lunch, and even that was a no.   Guess I'll start with the fried rice since I made that first.  I think it seemed simple enough, and I was almost positive I had all of the ingredients or if not a substitute, as I switched the brown rice out for white.  For the life of me I kept forgetting to look and make sure we had shrimp, but also take it out to defrost.  Our freezer is not that big, but the shrimp was all the way in the back behind baked goods, chicken, berries and a few other things I forgot were in there.   Shrimp came out and defrosted day of, although I don't think they were deveined so they took a little more prep work once the cooking started.  Side note, my coworker had mentioned making shrimp tacos and I thought...

  Yikes!  Did the last month or so get away from me or what.  I had honestly started this, well prepped this a month ago, and then apparently life happened.  So before I'm two months behind, what did I make in July.   I made lots of things with cream cheese, and if you keep up more will come, a because these mini cheese cakes were a bit of a cheat while I yet again wait on buying something that I may not have room for in my kitchen right now.  Yes a springform pan takes up less room then a stand mixer, but how often will I use it?  Actually if I had one I might use it as regularly as I am my muffin tin and donut pan.  Well, maybe not but at the rate I'm going at least once every couple months.   Now I went with mini cheesecakes to lets say ease myself into it.  I've had most if not all the ingredients for a month, and was just waiting for the right time, and I may have pushed back because cheesecake isn't really a summer treat...

List of Making

 I've got a few things scattered here and there, and pins saved for a rainy day but if I write them here maybe make myself more accountable they might be more likely to happen.  I thought about lasagna a few weeks ago, knew I had most of what I needed, just needed a recipe really.  Do I have my mom's recipe or is it one of those things that's more in her head but not written down anywhere?   I also talked to her about making chicken and dumplings to get her thoughts/input since I've got bisquick and I think it would go over well here.   Just went through my "recipe book" I typed up before starting college thinking I was going to be like my sister who had moved out a year before making all these fancy things for myself for dinner.  Makes me laugh what I put in it.  Mostly desserts, some snack or side dishes and maybe a few actual meals.  Way to go Carrie from ten years ago!
