CIS Assignment
My first assignment for my computer Information Science Class was pretty interesting. He asked us to write a paper that talked about the interface (the connection between a person and an object) about an electronic device like an ATM or a gas pump, even something like a remote to a TV.
We had to describe it with out trying to state the basic, of just pressing buttons. There was also the thought of was the interface intuitive or not. If the interface was similar to a different object, and how could this interface be improved.
Like a computer, it may seem easy to be able to turn it on, move the mouse and start typing something, but there is also the systems that you can use on a computer that may be confusing. How your actions toward the machine may change it in some way, some devices tell you that you are making progress by a noise or a light.
I thought it was really interesting and made me really think about what object I would want to write about and how I could describe the interface between it. It was a good assignment to start off the semester and get everyone thinking!
