Church Day

It was another Church day, and I was glad to be going. I had enjoyed going to church on the previous Sunday. Again Gram had decided that we go to the Shirley's ward. This time she was going to be prepared, and was going to wear something that was warm so that she did not freeze while we were there. I had not noticed how many time she changed but, she said it was a lot, change this shirt and have to change these shoes, change this skirt, have to change the slip. Gram was moving back and forth from the bathroom and her bedroom. Her multiple changes did not help any, she was still cold when we got there.


Marion taught a lesson, that involved a little turtle. It had to do with if you believe that he had the turtle in his pocket, or if you knew once he showed you that you knew there was a turtle in his pocket. It really got me to think about that.




When we got back from church, Tirzah made some dinner. It was a pasta with sausage, and onions. There was also a fruit salad that went with it. Some of the Shirley's picked out the fruit that they wanted, but I love fruit, so I didn't care what was on my plate. There was strawberries, cantaloupe, bananas, and blue berries. I may be missing something, but I am not sure.

After everyone ate some food, and the kitchen got cleaned up the Parental Shirley's decided that it was ok to go swimming this Sunday. Lucky for Jenna, she got to swim this time! While the girls and I were swimming, Tirzah, Marion, and Grammie programmed Gramps phone with numbers and set it up for him. Once the swimming was done and everyone dried off. Some of the Shirley's went home while Tirzah, Gram, and I went to deliver Gramp his new phone.

Gramp made sure that he had the instruction booklet for the phone so that if he had any other questions he could look through the book and find it, with out having to call one of the Shirley's or Gram. Some of the instructions Tirzah gave him were specific. They were instructions that she got when she bought the phone, so they were very important.

He was so excited about it. He knew it was coming but he needed some instructions on how to use all of it. Tirzah was there to explain what he needed to do for everything, like listening for a voice message, or what the ring tone sounded like. She also had to show him where the charger input was, which was important. I know that Gramp was also happy to see us, he always looked like he was in a happy mood when we went to see him. A good night to end a Great day!

 When I go back and think, I may not have taken a picture of the dinners I made.  Nope no picture of the Cajun fried rice or the Cajun chicken pasta .  I even tried to remind myself to take a picture of it as my lunch, and even that was a no.   Guess I'll start with the fried rice since I made that first.  I think it seemed simple enough, and I was almost positive I had all of the ingredients or if not a substitute, as I switched the brown rice out for white.  For the life of me I kept forgetting to look and make sure we had shrimp, but also take it out to defrost.  Our freezer is not that big, but the shrimp was all the way in the back behind baked goods, chicken, berries and a few other things I forgot were in there.   Shrimp came out and defrosted day of, although I don't think they were deveined so they took a little more prep work once the cooking started.  Side note, my coworker had mentioned making shrimp tacos and I thought...

  Yikes!  Did the last month or so get away from me or what.  I had honestly started this, well prepped this a month ago, and then apparently life happened.  So before I'm two months behind, what did I make in July.   I made lots of things with cream cheese, and if you keep up more will come, a because these mini cheese cakes were a bit of a cheat while I yet again wait on buying something that I may not have room for in my kitchen right now.  Yes a springform pan takes up less room then a stand mixer, but how often will I use it?  Actually if I had one I might use it as regularly as I am my muffin tin and donut pan.  Well, maybe not but at the rate I'm going at least once every couple months.   Now I went with mini cheesecakes to lets say ease myself into it.  I've had most if not all the ingredients for a month, and was just waiting for the right time, and I may have pushed back because cheesecake isn't really a summer treat...

List of Making

 I've got a few things scattered here and there, and pins saved for a rainy day but if I write them here maybe make myself more accountable they might be more likely to happen.  I thought about lasagna a few weeks ago, knew I had most of what I needed, just needed a recipe really.  Do I have my mom's recipe or is it one of those things that's more in her head but not written down anywhere?   I also talked to her about making chicken and dumplings to get her thoughts/input since I've got bisquick and I think it would go over well here.   Just went through my "recipe book" I typed up before starting college thinking I was going to be like my sister who had moved out a year before making all these fancy things for myself for dinner.  Makes me laugh what I put in it.  Mostly desserts, some snack or side dishes and maybe a few actual meals.  Way to go Carrie from ten years ago!
