Day 2 Outside Lands
Day two was a little easier. I mean we knew where we were going, didn't have to get up as early and take transportation anywhere and had some time. Gates opened at 11 most days, and music didn't start until noon so we were good. Kind of.
Ended up missing Methyl Ethyl (chemistry terms anyone?) but I'm sorry I didn't have a hat and my hair was too greasy not to shower I'm sorry.
So instead we explored a bit, because when we came back Friday night and pulled out our maps we realized we missed a lot. Although it was a busy day, running back and forth with little to no detours in between. So we found Choco Lands for me, passed by Cocktail magic, Bacon Land (which wasn't that impressive) and found the back wine. Again how did we miss some of these things I don't know. In too much of a rush to get to the next stage I guess.
Unless I am mistaken our the first set we wanted to see (besides Methyl Ethyl) was Years & Years. The singer won the British version of Americas Got Talent or something, not sure, its just what I was told. But for never hearing them, I really enjoyed it and now listen to some of their music on Pandora. Probably the large benefit of coming not knowing much is exploring different music and hearing new stuff.
After that was Big Grams, a combination of Big Bio from Outcast and Phantogram (who I'd never heard of). They were good, did some mashups from outcast days like Mrs. Jackson and such. At least something I knew, and a nice old school throwback.
We stayed and watched a bit of Air, but sadly was a little to mellow for me. Should have checked out Sufjan Stevens during that time slot, oh well next time. Walked to Twin Peaks to see some of Halsey. Made our way back to Lands End for the first half of Radiohead, and then back to Twin Peaks to finish of the night with Zedd.
Did I mention my legs were killing me again? Woke up in the morning and was fine, but with another day of being on my feet with little to no breaks for 8+ hours, walking dancing and doing what ever legs hurt.Okay. Now that I'm done with my little tangent Zedd was amazing! I am going to say this and possibly want to apologize, but Zedd should have been the closer for Sunday, and here is why. Light shows, laser beams, up beat music and the crowd was just going. Zedd the DJ and musician doing all sorts of mash-ups and making the crowd go wild.
Best way to end the day, no doubt. Possibly the best performance of the weekend.
