Evening in Santa Rosa
So I had been debating with myself for weeks maybe even a few months whether or not I was willing to buy tickets to see one of my favorite performers. It was in the middle of the week, was a drive up to Santa Rosa (which is not very enjoyable when you are driving through San Francisco to do it), and while $20 for two tickets is reasonably cheap for any concert/performance, I was technically unemployed.
But hey I wanted to have some fun, and see her. I mean she was reasonably close and who knows when the next time she would be touring California.
And if you're going to say "Hey Cassadee Pope sound familiar", then you'd be right. She was the vocals for the band Hey Monday before she started her solo career and was also the winner of The Voice Season 3.
The performance was at the Sonoma County Fair in Santa Rosa, and while I appreciate the cheapness of the tickets it did kind of suck that if you wanted to be close to the stage you had to pay for an upgrade. I mean that would be nice and all, but getting close but off to the side worked fine for me. I mean the pictures might have come out a little less blurry, but hey all I had with me was a phone so the zoom isn't that great anyway.
Most of the songs she sang I recognized, either off her new Summer EP, cover songs she did on the Voice or from her first album Frame by Frame. I was singing along to most of the songs, the only ones I didn't were the ones about boys which felt a little awkward when I was standing next to my boyfriend.
I can admit, I was fangirling a bit on my drive up there, way excited, and slightly freaking out. Good music from a performer I love, great weather and I even got to meet her. I mean could it get any better?
Well I guess my posture could be better and the flash. Something to remember for next time.
