Outside Lands Day 1
So as I'm 90% sure I said back in April maybe, I bought tickets to Outside Lands 2016 which is a 3 day music event in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. I had never done this before, and bought the tickets blind (as in the lineup was released a week later), but for the cheapest price you buy them early.
It started Friday, which was have everything packed the night before, get up reasonably early and take a couple forms of public transportation to get to the park, but first stopping by my lovely and kind sisters to drop off stuff, as she and her husband were kind enough to let us sleep on their floor during the event so we weren't taking muni/bart back home every night and turn around and do it again the next morning.
There were 5 different music stages, the Barbary which was more comedy, and Gastro Magic which I have no idea. The two stages we spent the most time at were Twin Peaks and Lands End.
With Friday being the first day we were a little lost confused, and I guess that was okay since there was no rush to be there, as of early that morning we didn't have a particular stage until 3pm or so, and were just going to wander a bit. Although once we got to San Francisco there was a suggestion to see Jidenna (2:30 time slot). Not a bad idea.
We caught the end of Whitney, sat a bit and listened to their music, then headed over to Twin Peaks. Saw the end of Marian Hill, which didn't sound that great. I mean interesting music, but when the singer took a break for a song or two they actually sounded better.
Sitting was reserved usually the first couple hours of the day (at least for me) and then it was go go go.
So... Lands End to see St. Lucia, who were from South Africa, or at least the main singer is. I had never heard of them, but they were pretty good. Up beat, energetic and he was getting into it. I could see the sweat dripping on his face by the end of the set, which was a little gross but what ever.
Then was a break, our feet were killing us and it had been hours since we ate lunch, so why not go for the best. A donut cheeseburger sounded great, add some bacon and it was killer. Maybe I should have eaten it slower, enjoyed it more but it was just that good. Oh my, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
The last show of the night was LCD Soundsystem, had everyone dancing moving and had a great time.
This was day one, and by the end of it my legs were killing me. How were we supposed to get through the next two days? How were we supposed to get back to my sisters? Ugh the pain.
