The day in the heat
Who knew that on my day off I'd be heading back to school. I mean I had thought about it for a time, the zumba class I had taken during the school year was going on during the summer on select days, and my gym membership actually continued until the middle of July so technically I could still go, it was just the 1.5 hour drive that had to be taken into consideration (especially for a 1 hour zumba class). No, if I was going to go out there I was going to make a day of it or something, not just be there for zumba.
Step 1 was to let my roommates know that I'd be there for zumba, and slightly earlier so that we could hang out ahead of time and chat. I mean there is a higher chance that I'd head there to meet up with them, then for them to come here since theres only one of me, and I've made the drive to many times to admit.
The other thing really was, that I had planned to drive almost all the way to school to meet up with a friend before hand for lunch and some fun, and zumba was late enough in the day to get everything.
It was a long day to say the least, and extremely hot, but it was totally worth it, for many reasons.
I went bowling and had lunch with a friend, according to him he won all rounds because we played golf the second round (and if you know anything about golf the lower score wins) and played bowling the other two. I was fine with it, we both seemed to average about the same scores and had even enough skills, if anything bowling gave us a lot of laughs. We would have spent more time outside, but I'm pretty sure it was 107 that day, and neither of us wanted to melt or burn or, fry and being outside for more then a minute was hard to tolerate in that weather. We then went to a pub to have lunch, they had some pretty good burgers and sandwiches, and TONS of fries. I don't think either of us could have finished what we ordered, but the food was delicious, we got to stay cool and watch the World Cup game.
When it was time for him to head to work, it was a little hard, the game wasn't over, and I really didn't want to say good bye, but I had to. Now it was time to head to school, run a few errands and meet up with my roommate. There was a parking permit I had to pick up, and a pay check for my last month of blogging for the semester. Last year they had called me mid July telling me about the paycheck, but I wasn't going to drive down without a reason. This year I had a reason, and had zumba, and roommates, and a lunch date.
So what do you do in the middle of the heat, while trying to waste two hours for zumba class? You go make a Target run, or go to Jamba juice, hope it isn't full and cool off with a smoothie.
Seeing my roommate, and doing zumba was a lot of fun. Zumba hurt a bit after not doing it for a month, but it was as fun as I remember, and hopefully I can go back before waiting another month. It was also nice to catch up with my roommate and see how she's been since we moved out in May.
It was a day filled with everything, including a long drive in the heat, and watching the best sunset during my drive.
