Inside a computer

I had never looked inside a computer before and so when my aunt wanted to completely clear her hard drive and had no idea how to do it, my mom was willing to help. My aunt had I guess a few months earlier finally got a laptop to replace her dinosaur of a computer, had Tanya help her transfer all of the information from one to the other. She, like I said, wanted to make sure before she got rid of the computer that there was nothing in it.
Of course my mom had no idea what needed to be done to completely clear it. Luckily someone else did. Asked around, there was a few suggestions, but it seemed like taking the hard drive out and smashing it with a hammer seemed like a good one (and fun).

The real tricky part was trying to figure out how to disconnect the hard drive from everything else. Screws connecting some things, cords and wires connecting others. We eventually found a way to disconnect everything, and ta da. No more hard drive.

It was pretty interesting looking through and seeing how everything connects in a computer. When I had taken a computer class a couple years ago and my teacher had described some of these things, but to see them myself made it even more awesome.
