Zumba

This past Friday I went to my first zumba class!

My roommates went to the zumba classes last year, and wanted to keep up with the activity this semester as well.  They had invited me to come along on their little adventures.  It seemed like fun, and since they had gone so often last semester it must have meant it was pretty good.  The plus side was going with friends, always easier then going alone.

I had taken a zumba class a few years ago while I was working at curves and that had been a lot of fun and a really good workout, the downside meant that I was a little rusty. The easiest way I can explain what zumba is, is exercise while you are dancing, or exercise dancing.  Zumba incorporates salsa, hip hop, mambo and all sorts of other dance styles into its choreography.

Getting back into zumba on Friday reminded me of one of the Jane Fonda videos my mom used to watch, only because it was a dancing workout in front of the mirror.  Of course this zumba class was a little more up to date and we weren't all wearing outfits from the 70's and 80's. This zumba class was a lot of fun!  It kept me moving for the entire hour, had me sweating, and gave me a decent work out.  There was all sorts of different music she played during the hour, which was nice to have a change up, even if I didn't understand the words.
Although I heard it was a different instructor then last year, I will be back for more zumba classes. Our zumba classes have two different instructors through out the week so I'm really interested in seeing how the other instructor works and whether or not she is going to push us harder or equally the same.  There's only one way to find out, so wish me luck as I go check it out.
