Utah: The Good Byes
Always, always, always the hardest day is the last day. Why should it be easy? Well and the difficulty of having to pack a million things back into a suit case. I swear they fit when we got here, why won't they fit now? It just never seems to work. Pack, pack, pack. Something I gotta hate.
The day started out about the same as the rest. Wake up, except I think I was hearing things. I thought I was hearing/seeing things. I may have been partially asleep, but I thought I heard Tanya was up talking to Ceaser. When I finally got out of bed it was just dad and Gram, and mom about to get in the shower. That was strange. Who was talking to him? Must have been Gram.
Again this morning Grams was a little loopy. Dad had already wrapped her in a blanket and she was again falling asleep in the chair. She needed to go rest again. Sleep Gram, you need it!
Apparently we were all in the mood for the same thing for breakfast. Cereal, cheerios. Might as well since Gram can't eat them. I was thinking about having eggs, but I felt it was much easier to the cereal, and less mess.
Since Gram wasn't feeling well, mom had suggested that since it was my last day once I was done with hygiene I should go and relax with Gram in her room and watch some NCIS. Apparently I took a little to long, because by the time I was done Gram was asleep on her bed. Its okay Gram, you needed sleep.
Brushing my teeth also took a little longer then usual since in between brushes I was packing things in my suit case. Trying to make everything fit. Trying to pack up the dirty clothes with the clean. There's a reason they didn't fit. Well, mostly because I tried to shove it all in. That was a mistake. Then there was my mom trying to tell me how to pack, and telling me not to worry. Don't worry, don't worry I was already freaking out because it wasn't fitting, don't tell me not to.
By now the little dilemma I was having was what to do? Gram was asleep. Mom and dad were doing cleaning, Tanya was helping with the cleaning, and Joliene was packing/hygiene. I was suppose to be watching NCIS with Gram, and I didn't want to wake her up just to do that. Instead I decided to check my email and see if my teacher had responded, I really had hoped he got my email. Lucky for me he had, so I didn't have to worry about that.
When I was done with that I figured I should go and help some. Mom was vacuuming, dad was packing another suit case with some of his stuff that wasn't going to fit and clearing some of the much expired things in the pantry. Tanya was also helping with that checking dates on chips and crackers, of course the day before when they were doing taste testing was much worse. Joliene was helping too, in what way I wasn't quite sure, but she was. I came and helped mom move the coffee table back to where it was, and bring some of the empty bottles and expired foods upstairs for disposal.
After some of that Gram was awake. She had suggested that we play cards. Due sleeping in the downstairs I had noticed where there was a couple decks of cards and I was ready to go and get them. Gram had invited Joliene and Tanya to join us, Joliene wasn't in the mood and Tanya was happy to.
Gram and I played the first round solo. We were waiting quite a while for Tanya. She was sent across the street to return the muffin tin we used to make cupcakes on Thursday, and was taking a while to return. For a while we thought she wasn't coming back, but it was right about after Gram and I had finished the first game that she had returned. Good timing Tanya!

The drive there wasn't as long as I thought it was. Then again there was a lot of conversation going on about what will be happening and what should be happening. As well as how thankful we are of Tirzah who is the one who is there taking care and watching over Gram. The car was full of tears.

I had started to munch on some pretzels while we were playing, and then Gram had the idea of chips and salsa. Loved it! Especially since my dad was trying to be slick and was stealing my pretzels. I caught you dad! But Gram got a bowl for herself and then Tanya went and got one we could share.
After playing a couple rounds we found out Tanya was cheating. Her deck was missing the 6 of diamonds. Well, at least she caught it. But she kept winning, I think it was because she had one less card to deal with. NO CHEATING TANYA!
Time seemed to creep up on us. Soon enough the Shirleys and Allertons were showing up, which meant it was close time to saying good bye and heading to the airport. Well, actually it was about 20 minutes away from heading to the airport just enough time for a short little chat and the good byes. Why do they have to come so quickly? Why must they be so hard? Of course never the easy part.

Airport, and drop off. Last good byes to Joi, Tirzah, and Dad. Of course dad would be coming home a few days later. Then there was check in and get to the gate. We were just hoping that I could get through security without trouble. We were there early so that if they needed to interrogate me and mom they had time to do it. Then there was dad who was I guess waiting in a parking lot waiting for a phone call to see if I had gotten through. Yes I did. Don't worry. Called dad and he could head back to Grams now.
Mom was a little smarter getting through the airport this time, she wanted to ask for a wheelchair so that she wasn't killing her feet wobbling to the gate. Smart thinking. The guy that came and helped us was very interesting and had a lot to day. Really nice guy.
Loved the view back home. All the snow on the mountains, the beautiful view. And as we were flying it was changing from day to night so we got a nice view of the sunset. Loved it!
It was hard to believe that we were back in California and back to reality. I had to remember to get some sleep since I had agreed to work the next morning. Okay, home we go, and thank you to Joliene's boyfriend for picking us up. Back home and it was a little strange, but what are we going to do? Home again.
