London Waterloo

This trip was well worth the wait, and now I may have the travel bug.  Next vacation may be another year away, but there was so much that we did and still there was more, and more places to go.  This trip started in London.
The first day was spent walking around Waterloo and doing some sight seeing.

 Big Ben
The London Eye
Since it was a Sunday, it was a zoo of people out and doing things.  While it would have been nice, the line was just a bit too long to take a ride.

 Westminster Abbey
As it was a Sunday, visitors were not allowed in because they were having services.

 St. Jame's Park
The oldest and most elegant park in London, many beautiful flowers.
 The Horse Guards Parade
The annual Trooping of the Colour is presented here for the Queen on her Birthday.  It has been a tradition since 1748, and while not all of the British sovereign have the same birthdays, it is usually held between June 11-17 each year.
Buckingham Palace
There were Palace guards marching along the palace we could see when we got closer.
Apparently when the flag is raised (as it is in the picture) it means the Queen is inside.

My first meat pie of the trip.
We had to find a bar and watch the last soccer game of the season.  They all come a little differently depending on where you get them, and what is inside.  Meat pies remind me of pot pies.

 London Bridge

 Tower Bridge
Built in 1894 with steam pumps  to raise the two halves.

 Dinner at Nando's
My first time to Nando's and not my last, though sadly there are no restaurants on the western part of the United States.  They mostly serve chicken, and have a variety of sauces to dip and try.  You can find Nando's Peri-Peri sauce in most grocery stores.
The Shard
1,004 feet tall glass spire has: 95 stories, offices, a restaurant, and a hotel.
