I'm a Trekkie in Training

So this past weekend I went to my first Star Trek Convention.
Oh. My. God.
I had no idea what to expect, and hello!  Why not?  There were all sorts of people dressed up, like borgs, like some of the characters, even some alien things (which has a better name, I just don't know it).
There were actors there! I mean, I know there should be, or at least that is what I would expect, but it was a little more like, hey I recognize you from being on the show!  I don't think I was extremely star struck, but it was like oh my god!  Some actors didn't look as aged as others.  I'll admit, when Jonathan Frakes walked on stage I had to do a double take because I thought it was someone clearing the set, then when I looked again I realized who it was.  He was just a little harrier, and a little greyer then he was in the series.

The actors there were Gates McFadden (Dr. Crusher), Marina Sirtis (Counselor Troy) and Jonathan Frakes (William T. Riker).  They took questions from randomly selected audience members.  Some were directed at one actor in particular.  Others were directed to everyone on stage.  They were great together, smiling and having a good time.  I think the hardest was when people were asking questions about other Star Trek series or commenting about Star Trek in general and how it got better as each series went on, it seemed like they were insulting the show these specific actors were on.

It was a fun time, and definitely a new experience.
