Wrong Space, Right Time
Today is Tuesday, which means my day is just slightly busier than yesterday, at least my school day is. I have three classes: History (which is getting a little better), Communications, and my Forensic Science Class.
The problem I had today was in my Communications class.
It wasn't the class or lecture that was my problem, it was the guy who came in late and sat behind me.
Now, I didn't really have a problem with him coming in late, other then that's probably why he ended up behind me, but I do believe that there were a couple empty seats that were closer to the entrance. I mean don't you just hate when someone walks right in front of the professor, to find a seat when there was one right next to the door?
No we don't have assigned seating, so he does have the right to take what ever seat he wants, but there is the courtesy others deserve.
That's really where I'm going with this. Courtesy.
I mean it is a classroom, and yes the desks are small, but we do deserve some sort of space for comfort. I believe that the desk in which I am sitting and the space in which it resides is my space during that class, the feet area included.
I understand that each person sits a little differently and have their feet in different positions while listening to the lecture, but the guy who I was sitting in front of and myself both wanted our feet in the same spot, at an angle underneath my seat. I don't think he understood that I wasn't going to move my feet just because his were there. I more wanted to hint to him that this was where my feet were going to remain for the rest of the class, and didn't want his touching mine. I mean I felt it. I think he kept moving around trying to adjust his feet, and would go back to the same position thinking that I would have moved my feet. I didn't. My feet were staying under my seat, and didn't want the company of his as well.
I think the other thing that he was doing, but always seems to do like walking in late is eating. I have no problem with him eating in class, but maybe it was put more to my attention because he was sitting behind me. I could hear him eating. I could hear him slurping his drink. I could hear him chew. I understand that when you eat, most of the time you are going to make some type of noise, but it was just louder, it was like he was his chewing was on speaker or something. It felt like he was chewing right into my ear.
This just made it really uncomfortable to concentrate or focus in class. It was just a big distraction that I just had to deal with. I hope he doesn't sit behind me again, it was to uncomfortable and a little annoying.
