Tower of London and Kensignton

On our last full day in London we had to plan things out a bit more.  We had books, and little walking tours to suggest where we should go, and we also had free tickets (Thank you Nick) to Tower of London.  We met Nick at the Tower a little before noon to get the tickets and were able to walk in quickly enough.

Our Beefeater guide
We did our own walking around the Tower before getting a little more history from a Beefeater.
Here he is telling us about Traitor's Gate, where starting in 1544 was used for traitors to enter the tower.  He told us about many beheadings and different killings and showed us into the chapel of St. John that is still used today.

The Tower of London

After the Tower we went to explore some of the Soho area.  We had a few walking cards that suggested places, and it seemed there would be a good place to eat in the area.  I wanted to see Soho square which was a bit disappointing because of the work they were doing on it, and Golden Square also seemed like a good find.  Afterwards we headed to the parks which we knew were not going to be let downs.

We started in Hyde Park, saw a map and had out route planned out a bit so we could see everything that the park had to offer.  Walked saw a fountain, stopped for a bit, turned and walked along the water.  The Lake is one of the more popular features, and there are different boats you can take on the water, or buy some bread and feed the birds.

The parks were beautiful, and it only sprinkled slightly on us while we were walking around.  We chose not to go into the Palace, and just enjoyed what we did see.
