Side Braid Pt. 2

Since cutting my hair it has been a bit more difficult to handle.  The side braid I was doing still works, but then the rest of my hair just looks like an awkward blob hanging on the side.  I have straightened my hair, worn a hat, used a high pony tail that then doesn't look awkward and put it up in a bun, all of which are fine, but I was still looking for something else.

I have found a couple suggestions online for what to do with short hair, including this side/inverted braid.  I'm not quite sure I'm doing it right, as it says to braid under instead of over, but I guess it works for now.

My other finding was a backwards braid, or upside down one where you start at the back of your head, and pin everything at the top but I haven't quite been brave enough to try that yet.
