Quick trip to Oregon

This was most likely the first time I've been to Oregon, and will definitely not be the last.  I went there for a quick weekend in October, and have returned to spend Thanksgiving with my boyfriend and his family.

This is me talking about my first visit.  I had two suggestions as to what to do/where to go while I was in Oregon the first was to go to Powell's book store. Powell's is one of the largest, if not largest book store in the world.  It has multiple levels, like a red floor, pink floor, brown floor, I may have gotten a little lost or at least walked in a circle or two while I was there just looking around.  I limited myself to a single book, but could have easily spent a hundred dollars in that store for different books I would be interested in reading or giving as gifts.  It sells new and used books, has a little coffee shop in it, a couple different entrances sells games, crafting books, I'm sure any book you could imagine.  I'm sure it even has some of those rare books that you can't find anywhere or have to special order, they would have it.
I do hope to be able to go back, maybe not this time, but next time when I know a little more of what I'm looking for.

While we were on this side of town we also went to the Saturday market they have and walked around a little.  We drove by VooDoo donuts, and the line was crazy, which I suspect it always is, but I'm sure that would have been at least standing in line for an hour which isn't quite worth it even if they are killer donuts.  Maybe if there was more time and not so much of a crazy line.  Instead we walked around a little, and had a small lunch near the market.

We went back and hung out some.  My boyfriends sister owns a hedgehog and brought it over for everyone to see and pet.  I knew nothing about hedgehogs when this trip started, and after meeting this cute little thing I want one.   His name Prickswilliam, he is an African pygmy hedgehog, should eat vegetables but he eats cat food instead and as a treat eats meal worms.  Hedgehogs are normally nocturnal, so when he came out of his little pouch he was not happy, and wanted to burrow in some place dark to fall back to sleep.  In new surroundings, or if you hold him he will lick you to pick up your scent, and then put your scent on him as a defense mechanism so that you won't attack him.

He is cute and adorable, and made me want a hedgehog to call my own.

And then there was this:

It was so cute seeing the kitten react to the hedgehog.  He was curious, but knew it wasn't smart to touch, although tried many times.

It was a quick trip to Oregon the first time, flew in Friday night and flew back Sunday afternoon.  Saw some new things, tried some new food/seasonings and explored a bit.  This next time I'm here for a week and should have more to share with you next time.
