We are all alike :)
Since the semester happened to start on a Monday this year, it didn't feel like there was enough time for housing students to get to know one another. We moved in Friday, had a couple days of events, some required, others not and then bang! school.
I mean there was a little floor meeting, where we got to a few activities and somewhat get to know people, but after that, we were in a crowd of about 600 for other events, and remembering faces and names was impossible. I mean there are at least 64 other students living on my floor, and I could name about 10 of them, maybe. It might not be your goal to know the people who live around you, but if someone says hi, I want to at least know their name, or what room they are in. I think that's why I enjoyed living in the dorms so much the past couple years, was that I got to know the people living on my floor more.
So where am I going with this? Well, my PAL (Peer Academic Leader) had an event a week or so ago where we had a little fun getting to know people at the event. She had a list of about 80 items on it, and if something was true, you circled it. Then we all got colored paper, and divided it into 8 sections, for 1-10, 11-20, 21-30...etc. and we wrote down numbers we circled. The colored paper was then taped to our bodies, and we mingled getting to know everyone a little better, seeing that they wrote 46, and love Disneyland too. It was fun, social, and like I said I got to know a few more people on my floor this way.
So if you take a nice little look, maybe you can see I had a brain fart, but kind of just went with it. my first box, which should have been 1-10, I somehow made 1-20 and so my last box ended up empty. I was confused as to why until I saw what I had done, and instead of redoing the whole thing, I just decided to write I win! instead. Not sure how many people noticed, so it was what ever.
