My little trip to Texas
First week of June my mom and I flew out to Texas with my dad following a few days later. We went to visit my sister help her clean up and tear down her classroom and see some new things in Texas.
There was her cat, I'd never met him before. He's big compared to the two cats at my house, maybe more built.
Then there were 3 kittens and the mom, and sometimes the dad that live underneath bushes next to their house. I probably could do an entire blog about these kittens and how adorable they are and everything else, but I think I'll limit myself to this.
They were cute, and adorable, and I got to touch one, and I wanted to take one (or all) home with me, although not sure my cat would have been okay with that.
Okay, done with cats. Now onto the important thing FOOD. Okay yes I mean we did more then eat in Texas, mom and I did a little shopping, but I didn't take any pictures of that or of us cleaning out the classroom, and according to my sister the only thing to do in Texas is eat or shop.
Paciugo was a little gelato place that I think mom and them had gone to before, and now since mom and dad were into gelato they thought it was a nice special treat to go and check it out. So after having dinner Friday we walked there. Mmm Mmm good.
Next was Saturday, and let me say we ate way to much Saturday, well ate and had to much food in general. For breakfast/lunch we headed to Pecan Lodge which is apparently one of the best BBQ places to eat in Texas, the line for the food, while long is worth the wait. I mean we tried almost everything on the menu. There was ribs, brisket, two types of sausages, pulled pork, we also went for some fried okra, mac and cheese, and mom had the "hot mess". Oh my god food! So much, and even with the five of us eating, we couldn't finish it all.
Okay so it wasn't just food, and food and food. But some of it did seem that way. We went to check out this water area (okay so I'm sure it has a name, but I don't remember it). It was nice and pretty, and at the top a pretty cool view, but it was hot, so any type of shade was appreciated.
There were also games at night. The first night trying to get all the rules down and this and that was a little difficult, but we went back to Canasta the second day so maybe it wasn't that bad, but I think even the second night playing there were rules popping up that weren't clarified the first night, and we had also made it a little longer playing, what was it 2am when we finally called it quits?
And the last day it was tacos. Just tacos. Okay not just tacos, we had tacos for breakfast at one place (seen below) this place puts some strange things in tacos, like potatoes. Okay maybe my mind is just so used to what is regularly served that something like potatoes or honey glazed bacon with spinach. That second one might not be as much of a stretch, but still.
Our second, and final stop was Torchys. I think we had all been there at least once before, but their tacos are just that good, that you have to come back, or just really want to. There is stuff for everyone, spice for me and dad, and mild with veggies for mom. Mmmm so good.
So that was my quick trip to Texas guys. There is more to Texas I promise, just not enough time, availability and to much heat to check some things out. Maybe next time.
