2014 Goals

Happy New Year everyone!

As part of the new year I wanted to set myself some goals.  I remember there was a motivational speaker who had come to campus a few days before school started and talked to some of us housing students.  He said something along the lines of; if you don't have goals then what are you working for.  It probably sounded a little better then that, but I'm sure you know what I mean. I've decided to share some goals I've set for myself this year.

  1. Explore Turlock. I keep saying that I'm going to do this and now that I'm telling you it is going to happen.  I know there are plenty of parks around, and other sights to see around town, so its time to explore a little more, especially since I'll be here for at least another year.
2. Get Back into crafting. I started working on crafts in maybe the middle of October, but didn't quite get everything done I wanted to do.  I think the plan might be every Friday night, or every Sunday afternoon if I'm not otherwise occupied I'll be doing some sort of crafts for myself or for someone else.
3. Get a 3.5 GPA.  I'll admit, my grades for this semester weren't the best ones in the world, but with difficult classes comes more effort and work.  If anything the grades have motivated me to work even harder and try and boost my GPA up a little bit, study hard, work hard, and ask questions.  I like having high grades, high marks in class, and I'm pretty sure they will be better for me in life if I do the best that I can in my classes.
4. Read the 5 books listed.  I tend to collect books sometimes.  One of the books listed I got for my birthday in October, another I just got for Christmas, and others I've had at my house for a while.  I enjoy reading; I just don't always have time for it.  The plan over last summer was to read four books, about mid book three is when school started and I had good intentions in finishing it, but it just never happened.  This time I will read them all!
5. Be more experimental with baking.  I tend to take the easy way when it comes to baking, using the same recipe over and over again.  My favorite stress reliever is baking banana bread, it's my go to, because it's that simple, but I want to expand my horizons and learn new recipes, bread wise and sweets wise.  Hey, when you get to try new recipes, you also get to taste new things, and that's always fun.
6. Go to the gym 3x a week.  This one may or may not be happening seeing how I already seem to have a lot on my plate, but if my roommates and I continue going to zumba at least once a week, it would knock one day off the list and just give me two more. I know it's a healthier lifestyle if I do, and it's better to gain some muscle.

*I think this year my goals are more towards myself, and for me.  In the past I've done things to make other people happy, but in the last few weeks I've learned that it is more important to put my priorities first, and then others.  Here goes nothing 2014!
