Student Blogger

A couple weeks ago I applied to be a student blogger for my school.  They already had a few student bloggers, but they were looking for a few new faces.  I got an email via the school that said they were recruiting new bloggers.  It caught my attention, and I wanted to see if I could do it.  I mean, I have decent experience blogging, and wouldn't mind if I had a little more readers so I took a shot.  My application required a few of the regular things: name, major, year in school and a short sample blog so that who ever is recruiting can see my writing style, and learn about me some.  For that I actually did a comparison of the camping I did over the summer, and when I went camping with my family ages ago at least the set up and planning of everything, that is a lot to compare.

My application got me a call back, or what ever you want to call it.  I was selected as a finalist, but then had one short "audition" or task to do.  I was then asked if I could help volunteer at the Blogger table for Preview Day a day where potential students from high school come and get a feel for the campus.  Of course I was more then happy to help.  Preview day required standing or sitting at a booth, handing out fliers and postcards promoting the student blogging and getting these students engaged in what we had to say.  And I have to say it wasn't that bad.  Me being a very quiet person, it was a step out in a new direction not being as shy.

Once the day was over everyone who participated at the blogging table was required to write a short blog about their experience and turn it in by midnight that night.  It wasn't that big of a deal, but it was the recruiters way of seeing who could write under pressure, can write with a dead line, and to see if everyone is writing about the same event who shines out and who doesn't.  I wrote my blog and submitted it, and now I just hope I get the job.  I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually want this to happen, its something I'll enjoy and love to do.
