Perspectives

I have to say I've been enjoying school this semester for the most part, although it's only been a couple weeks, but it still is pretty good.

I'm taking two criminal justice classes, each of which I'm looking forward to. One is report writing, and the other is forensic science. Sounds like fun. The other classes I'm taking are U.S. History from the civil war until now, Ethnic studies, and communication.

Although I'm not sure what this has to do with communication, we did a little activity in class:

1. Write down your favorite color and at least 4 personality characteristics that describe it.
2. Write down your favorite animal and do the same thing.
There were a few others, but two is enough.

It was interesting what people had to say about each thing, and then later to hear what my professor had to say what each of these things meant.

My color was sky blue, the characteristics that I chose were:
Calm, welcoming, peaceful, enjoyable

My animal was a kitten, the characteristics that I chose were:
loving, kind, friendly, curious, quiet, adventurous

Once we had gone around the room each saying our personality characteristics after each topic my professor would stop and say what these meant. She said that for the color the characteristics we chose were what others see in us, then for the animal it is how we see ourselves. I have to say it kind of makes sense.
