Giants vs. A's

May 22

That was the date I had purchased tickets to go see the Giants play back in December. Now that date has come and gone. And I have to say the plans I had on who to go with were a little not what I had planned. I think I had planned to go with my sister (who still lives at home) or my dad, when I had purchased them. That was a NO. My sister's boyfriend ended up visiting her for the weekend, so there went her, and I learned that I should have asked my dad like a week in advance instead of a day or so. Bummer. He went on a camping trip with some of his buddies this past weekend, and was taking that day to get everything out and ready for it. Then it was my mom or my other sister, well it was that or I was going alone (which I would have done). To make a long story short I ended up going with my mom, and this time got there before the game started. The last time I had gone to a game at the end of March or what ever I had arrived in the middle of the 7th inning. This time I got to see the whole thing.

It was nice. We got on the train took the ride there and even got there early, which was nice. They were having a promotional give away that day, and the first 20,000 people at the park got a World Champions Pennant. Not sure what to do with it, but I have one. After we walked in since we were there an hour before the game started we decided to walk around some. We got to see all of the vendors. My mom had said they had a little kids playground or something so I guess we were looking for that. Here's what I didn't know. That Coke bottle, it's not just there for decoration. It's a SLIDE! Sure doesn't look like one until you get really close up.

Another thing is my dad said we had to get garlic fries. He said that that was the first thing he smelled when he came to the ball park. So, just for him we did.

It was nice to see all those pre-game things they do at the park that they don't show you on TV. Like I didn't understand why they were wetting the dirt. It is apparently so they don't have as much dirt flying around when they are running.

It was a really good game to watch. To see them switching pitchers and exchanging people in and out. And also see the people come and go at the game. I think they said the game was sold out for that day, but you could see that some of those seats were empty. There were even two seats next to me that we had thought were going to fill but those people never came.

If you have ever watched a Giants game or at least one in the past year, you would agree with me when I say you have to watch the whole game. If you walk away or turn off the TV and they are ahead you come back and they will be losing or tied. I guess they make you stay for the entire game. The word is torture. That is what the Giants community came up with Torture.

This game started at one o'clock. At first they were winning, then they were losing, then they were tied. This game that my mom and I were at went until the 12th inning. The Giants did win, but oh if we had left before they had won we would have missed out. But these guys they keep you on your feet until the last minute. Oh yes, torture, that word works perfectly.
