Spring 2015
So I've now gone through an entire week of classes, gone to each class at least twice, and I have actually started learning.
Here's what I'll be taking:
Physical Chemistry: Now I can tell you how this is one of the hardest chemistry classes out there, not just at my school. It is a mixture of calculus, chemistry and physics, which separately aren't to bad to anyone, but when put together can be a chaos of sorts. We will be studying thermodynamics, equilibria, properties of gases, and about Gibbs energy. I'm lucky to have my roommate and her friend with me in the class, and we will be studying like crazy every day after class. This class has a 50% (or higher) fail rate, and the three of us are determined not to be that statistic.
Scientific Evidence and the Law: It is another one of those difficult classes. We are going to be discussing the use of forensic science in legal settings and the legal settings forensic scientists must operate. Throughout the semester there will be 3 essay exams, and one final 7-10 page paper along with a presentation about it. We will also be doing a little student teaching based on readings in the book, where we are teaching the class what we read, it will be about 10-15 minutes and be graded by our peers. Yikes, and yikes! Not sure what I am scared of more, a 7-10 page paper (seeing as how I haven't written one that long in years) or presentations that need to be at least 10 minutes long.
Criminalistics II: The one class I am looking forward to the most. Its a continuation of a class I took last semester. This semester we will be going over crime scenes, latent prints, firearms, impression evidence, bloodstain patterns, and DNA. Which all sound fascinating! Along with lecture, there will also be labs corresponding to some of the lectures we've had such as crime scenes and blood spatter. We will have two mid-terms and one final test as well as a crime scene presentation which is a group project which actually sounds like a lot of fun. We get to put everything we've learned in the past two semesters and make a crime scene and break it down. Can you see the excitement on my face?
This semester is going to be a lot of fun, and a lot of work. Wish me luck!
